Can RESOLVE® products be used on:
A: BEFORE CLEANING: Product must be tested in a hidden area for colorfastness. Allow test area to dry completely and observe for any color change. If color is affected do not use. Avoid contact with painted, stained, finished wood surfaces, Vacuum thoroughly to remove loose dirt. Blot wet soils with clean, absorbent cloth.

Scotch Guarded Carpets
Although all carpet cleaners will diminish the effectiveness of the stain resistant (Scotchguard) treatment, the product is still safe to use when used according to label directions. Always test on a hidden section of carpet for colorfastness prior to use.
Sisal Carpet
No. These are natural staw-type or fiber rugs that can be stained by any number of liquids including water. No recommendation for spot cleaning or wet cleaning is advised by the manufacturers of such rugs/carpets.
Upholstery
RESOLVE® Spot Magic® and Multi Fabric can be safely used on upholstery. Before using, always look for manufacturer’s cleanability code tag. It is for use on fabrics coded "WS" or "W". If coded "X" or "S", do not use.
Wet Stains
We do not recommend using RESOLVE® Granules on wet stains. For these types of stains, we recommend a liquid cleaner such as RESOLVE® Carpet Cleaner in the trigger containers or RESOLVE® Spot Magic® to be more effective.
Wool Carpet
We do not recommend using RESOLVE® Dual Power™ for wool carpets

How much product should I use on the stain? Will it be harmful if I use too much?
A: The stained area should be covered completely with RESOLVE® Dual Power™, but the carpet should not be oversaturated. Although it isn’t harmful to use too much product, it will just make it more difficult to clean.
There is no foaming action with the RESOLVE® Dual Power™ as depicted in the commercial. Why?
A: The foaming and fizzing is dependent on how you squeeze the two chambers. If you squeeze both chambers evenly and with some force, you will see foaming and fizzing.
What would cause brown stains to appear on the carpet?
A: There is nothing in RESOLVE® Carpet Cleaners that would cause a brown appearance to carpet. If the product was over-applied, moisture may reach the backing and cause a brown colored stain. Or, if it remains in the carpet from not rinsing adequately, it will attract dirt quickly, thereby, giving the appearance of discoloration. It is recommended that a solution of white vinegar and water be used to neutralize the residue of product. Or, the carpet may need to be professionally cleaned
Dark spots appeared after cleaning, it looks like the stain came back.
A: This can be caused by the stain not having been completely removed and attracting dirt to the area. It would be recommended to re-clean and blot up as much excess moisture as possible with a clean, white cloth. It is also possible that the soil has gone down to the base of the carpeting and has not been completely removed and, therefore, is "wicking up" or working its way up through the pile of the carpet. This becomes more apparent as the carpet is walked on.
The product did not clean.
A: Some stains may cause permanent discoloration of carpet fibers. Some soils are more tenacious to remove, and long-standing stains can be hard to remove. In some cases, professional cleaning may be needed.
The carpet is still stained after removing a pet stain.
A:
Urine stains may set into the fibers and turn color over time. It is suggested that as much of the stain as possible is soaked up with a clean white cloth or rag. Placing a heavy object on top of the cloth will help to wick up the stain completely. If the stain is older, it should be wet completely and use the same approach (white cloth with heavy object). Certain stains, such as pet accidents (urine, vomit, feces, etc) can cause permanent discoloration even after cleaning. RESOLVE® Pet Stain & Odor Eliminator would be the recommended product to use in this situation.
The stain appears to look larger after cleaning.
A: Spots and stains seem to become bigger if the area is rubbed outward, thereby spreading the stain. If the application of the product, or even clear water is excessive, this could also leave ring-like stains larger than the actual spot. It is recommended to reapply the cleaner and wiping the stain inward toward the center. Rinsing the area with vinegar/water may help.
The carpet feels sticky/tacky after using.
A: It is possible that the product was over-applied. Re-vaccuming is recommended.
The fragrance is overwhelming, what can be done to neutralize it?
A: First, ensure that all the product has been removed from the carpet. If possible, air out the room or place a fan near the area the product was used in. If these recommendations are not effective, after the carpet is completely dried, baking soda may be sprinkled on the carpet and left to set for one hour and then vacuum. Baking soda will absorb any remaining fragrance left in the carpet. Be careful when applying the product not to over saturate the area.
How much RESOLVE® Granules should be used?
A: Sprinkle the product over the carpet allowing some carpet to remain visible. The mechanical action of the brush and the vacuuming will help to spread the product.
How often can RESOLVE® Granules be used?
A: RESOLVE® Granules should be used for cleaning high traffic areas and could be used when needed for this purpose.
Can a different brush be used with RESOLVE® Granules?
A: No. The brush that comes with the package was specifically designed to gently but effectively brush the granules into the fiber. Other brushes may damage the carpet.
Can RESOLVE® Granules be used with a bagless vacuum cleaner because the usage directions indicate I should use a fresh, empty bag.
A: Yes, RESOLVE® Granules can be used with a Bagless Vacuum if label directions are followed and the area that has been treated has dried completely before vacuuming.
How should the brush be cleaned?
A: Rinse under water and let dry. The hang back on the side of the container
How large of an overall area will the a container of RESOLVE® Granules cover?
A: RESOLVE® Granules will clean up to an 8 ft by 10 ft area.
What do the various fabric codes mean: "WS", "W", "X", "S".
A: The "W" code refers to fabrics that are man-made. Examples of this category would include nylon, herculon, acetate, olefin and polyester. Cleaning recommended for these types of fabrics would be to spot clean using a water-based cleaning agent, like RESOLVE® Multi-Fabric. This could be a mild soap or detergent or a non-solvent upholstery cleaner. You should always use a clean, dry white cloth or sponge and test an area that is less noticeable first. Blot the area dry and use the cool setting on a dryer to dry once the stain is removed.
Fabrics with the "W/S" code may be spot cleaned with a water-based cleaner, like RESOLVE® Multi-Fabric, or mild solvent-based cleaner, shampoo for upholstery or the foam from a mild soap or detergent solution.
Fabrics with the code "S" would include those from an organic nature such as cellulosic fibers (from plants) like cotton, rayon and linen as well as materials manufactured from protein fibers (animal origin) like wool or silk. Additional code "S" fabrics would be denim, velour, brocade, tapestry, damask, acrylic and plaid (cotton/olefin blend). The cleaning procedure for these types of fabrics also would be spot cleaning using a mild, water-free solvent or dry cleaning product. Again, pre-test the product in a less visible area before use and, as before, be sure to not over- saturate, allow the area to dry completely and use a clean, white cloth. Blot out the solution. If the stain persists, rub lightly in a circular motion using a clean part of the cloth. Reverse the circular motion using a clean part of the cloth each time. Fabrics with the "W/S" code may be spot cleaned with a mild solvent, shampoo for upholstery or the foam from a mild soap or detergent solution. Techniques mentioned for "W" or "S" coded fabrics should be followed. Do not use RESOLVE® Multi-Fabric on fabrics coded "X" or "S".
Fabrics with the code "X" should only be cleaned by vacuuming or light brushing. Water- or solvent-based cleaning agents should not be used. Do not use RESOLVE® Multi-Fabric on fabrics coded "X" or "S".
Can the product be on items that go in the washing machine?
A: We do not recommend using this product with items that will go into the washing machine. For these garments, we suggest using Spray ‘n Wash®, but always follow garment label instructions and Spray ‘n Wash® label instructions. RESOLVE® Multi Fabric cleaner is specially designed to work on items that cannot go in the washing machine.
Can product be used as a fabric refresher also?
A: RESOLVE® Multi-Fabric is not a fabric refresher; it is a fabric cleaner, which will leave a fresh clean scent on the fabric.
RESOLVE® Pet Stain did not clean a routine stain (i.e. grease, grape juice, etc.).
A: RESOLVE® Pet Stain was developed specifically for pet stains and is very efficacious on pet odors, urine, vomit and feces. On routine stains, it is recommended that one of our Resolve® products be used.
What dilution rate should be used for RESOLVE® Carpet Cleaner Concentrate?
A: 4 oz. per gallon of water
What type of water and what temperature should be used with RESOLVE® Carpet Cleaner Concentrate?
A: Regular tap water should be used, letting it run until hot (110 degree F)
Can RESOLVE® Carpet Cleaner Concentrate been used in rental machines? What is the difference between rental machines and home machines?
A: Yes. The rental machines are more industrial, more powerful. They perform at a higher level.
Can RESOLVE® Carpet Cleaner Concentrate for Steam Machines be used directly from the container or diluted with water on a spot or stain?
A: No.
Can the RESOLVE® Carpet Cleaner Concentrate be diluted and put in a spray bottle for treating spot and stains.
A: No. The product is not designed to clean spots and stains. It is recommended that RESOLVE® Spot & Stain Carpet Cleaner or RESOLVE® Spot Magic® be used for treating spots and stains.
Is RESOLVE® Carpet Cleaner Concentrate considered a deep cleaning product? How often should a carpet been deep cleaned?
A: RESOLVE® Carpet Cleaner Concentrate is a deep cleaning product. Carpet should be cleaned depending on traffic, activity, accumulated soil when needed.
What brand machines has RESOLVE® Carpet Cleaner Concentrate been tested with?
A: Hoover, Bissell, Rug Doctor
Will the water harm carpet?
A: No, a properly working machine will constantly extract water during use.
If the product is diluted and not entirely used after cleaning one room, can it be saved for another day?
A: No. It is not recommended that solution is stored in the machine.
The carpet is not drying.
A: Drying time may be affected by weather conditions. Also, the machine should be checked to ensure the extractor is properly working.
The carpet feels stiff after cleaning.
A: It is possible there is residue from prior cleaning products remaining in the carpet fibers or the product was not diluted properly. Using clear water in the machine to rinse is recommended.
RESOLVE® Carpet Cleaner Concentrate did not clean existing stains.
A: Some stains may cause permanent discoloration of carpet fibers. Some soils are more tenacious to remove, and long-standing stains can be hard to remove. In some cases, professional cleaning may be needed.
Can RESOLVE® Spot Magic® Carpet Cleaner be used to clean a large area?
A: The product may be used to clean a large area but should be cleaned in small sections at a time due to the quick drying nature of this product. RESOLVE® Foam is recommended to clean larger areas.
What would be expected if RESOLVE® Spot Magic® was left on longer than 60 seconds?
A: Adverse results would not be expected if the product was left on the carpet longer than 60 second, however, the product will be dry after about 10 minutes, therefore,it will need to be reapplied.
On the label it states to blot area with clean cool water in all directions after stain is removed, why is this?
A: Blotting the area with clean cool water in all directions is suggested so that any excess product remaining on the carpet after cleaning is removed.
What does "penetrates deep into the carpet" mean?
A: The product penetrates deep into the carpet to get underneath the stain and help lift it out.
